Fresh Ambitions...

The ambitions for the new semester are getting decent GRE score, Gate score, Improve programming skill, learn Hindi(i am trying to do this for semesters but not yet successful), and lot more.
I was the problem-setter for a local programming contest held on 22nd Jan. Setting a programming contest and see people solving it, is a great experience. Even though, out 3 problems i gave, one was very easy, one became so easy as the test cases and constraints are weak and the last one was still a mystery(One of the participants found a counter test case to my solution, so problem became a bit complex to solve. Hopefully i will solve it in a day or two).
I also started a new blog just to blog some tech problems that i found interesting. I will include the link when it has enough content. That's all for now...

History repeated...

Even the ACM Regional at kerala is decent( just ok). We ended up at 6th position, and a Taiwan team bagged the top slot, followed by CMI(Chennai Mathematics Institute) team. The place is too good. Backwaters of kerala is a nice place to watch. We alloted a complete day after the contest to see some nice places in kerala, but all we able to manage is visiting many railway stations :).
U know what!! we got into the train that is going in opposite direction and realized only after 3 hours, so whole day we spent in train doing nothing. All my thoughts after the Kanpur contest replayed as the performance at kerala is also not that great.
Instead of going to home directly i went to Hyderabad to my brothers place. Stayed there for 3 days, visited my old friends, visited MS campus, met some of the seniors, did lot of shopping, etc.
I am back to home. In 3 days i started back to the college, this time with a fresh ambitions. Lets see how far can i achieve them.

Got motivated rather than achieved ...

Finally we participated in ACM Regional at Kanpur. I messed up things a lot there and our team ended up at 18th position. As expected other team from my college (killall) headed by prasanna stood first, followed XTC++, IITM team and so on. Both the teams got selected for ACM World finals at Canada. When i analyzed my performance during the contest, i realized that i lacked confidence about my solutions to the programs. I felt bad for sometime for not making much success in the contest, but then i got reminded of my IIT Entrance test.
I lost the opportunity for getting admit because of my ego, pride, or what ever u call it. Then instead of cribbing about what happened i decided such a situation should not take place in my future, and it has not happened till now. Similarly after the contest i decided that i should never be in a situation where lack of confidence is reason for a failure. So the bottom line is
"The motivation from a failure(if realized) is more important and everlasting
when compared to feeling of achievement after a success."

The game is not over yet, one more show(i mean contest) is waiting for us at Amrithapuri Institute in Kerala where the next ACM regional is going to be held. Apart from the contest, fun we had there is enormous. We visited Agra during our return trip to college. Agra is a great place to watch, TajMahal in particuar.
